Sunday, August 30, 2020 the Upper Basilica of Oropa reopens for worship
Sunday, August 30, 2020, the sacred effigy of the Black Madonna will unite in a single moment of faith the reopening of the Church after four years of restoration and the resumption of the path towards the Fifth Centenary Coronation.
PROGRAM:
3pm: At the beginning of the Holy Mass, celebrated by the Bishop of Biella, with a solemn rite, the Statue of the Black Madonna will “open” the main portal, enter the Upper Basilica and then be placed under the ciborium.
4.30 p.m. (approximately): At the end of the celebration, the doors of the Upper Basilica will be opened and a delimited and regulated devotional path will allow everyone to pay homage to Our Lady by parading in prayer in front of the Holy Effigy.
8.30 p.m. (approximately): At the end of the flow of the faithful, “homage” to Our Lady and closing of the day.
